1/20/08 - Newly single and looking! I am a petite, somewhat on the skinny
side fawn with black mask 6yr old female. In my other home, I was strickly a
money maker, my ex Tiger and I produced one litter after another (Tiger is
available for adoption too) and when we were no longer bringing in the $$$$'s,
we were cast aside. A very nice lady contacted Best Friends Boxer Rescue about
us and we are now in seperate foster homes looking for our own forever family
to spoil us. In return, I promise to be faithful, quiet, loving, and gentle.
I've only been here 1 day, so I will be back in a few days to tell you more about
me. If you're interested in filling out an application for me, please contact
fawnboxersrule@yahoo.com. I am heartworm negative, received my 5 way, will be
spayed, got my rabies vaccine and will be ready to go soon!
1/25/08 - Tara made her way to the Boxer doxer a few days ago and got the
once over. She received her rabies, got her spay appointment and it was determined
that she is loaded with round and whipworms, yuck! She was put on Interceptor,
that is the heartworm preventative and also takes care of those nasty worms.
She needs to gain a few pounds, but I'm sure once she starts shedding those pests,
she will fatten up. Tara has settled in very nicely here at the Pup Tent. She
lives with two female boxers and one male and gets along splendidly with all,
she has even started to play with Boscoe. She sleeps uncrated at night. She goes
in the crate when I have errands to run, rather reluctantly, but once in, there's
not a peep out of her and she waits patiently for my return. Tara is just the
perfect dog, she is calm and past the puppy stage. She is friendly to all that come
to our home. During the past week, we have had visitors come and go, young and
old and she greets them all warmly. Yesterday, my grandbaby (who, by the way is
the most beautiful baby in the world) Avery, 5 months old came over for some
grandma time and Tara was gentle with her. We did not use the walker, no sense
being stupid, but I think she would do fine in a home with children. I can't say
enough good things about this sweet dog. She may be a bit older than some would
like, but I think the rewards far outweigh the risk. She seems to be housebroke,
we have had no accidents thus far.
2/8/08 - Tara continues to be just about the nicest dog I have had at my
home. I have not heard her bark. She continues to be nothing more than a loving
dog that is looking for the "good life". She is quiet, calm and hopefully worm
free! She also made her way to the eye vet and had a few extra eyelashes removed.
They were scratching her eye and made her uncomfortable so away they went. It's
hard to believe that this beautiful dog did everything to make money for her owners
and when she wasn't wanted anymore, she was sent to a kill shelter. Her entire life
was outside, no human companionship, worms, fleas, hurting eyes, one litter after
another. She will be spayed when she has gained a few more pounds. She promises to
be your best friend forever if you will take a chance on her!
