June 6, 2009 -Best Friends Boxer Rescue picked up Rueben on Friday. He was a stray and when his hold was up, his friend Marge sprung him. Rueben bunked overnight here at the pup tent and got along fine with the two resident females, our resident male and Danny the puppy who hitched a ride with his brother Owen. Rueben received all his shots in the pound and will be heading to the clinic this Tuesday the 9th to be neutered. More to come!

June 22 2009-Ruben is doing just great in his fosterhome. He is a super sweet boxer boy who is full of nothing but love and licks! He was neutered one week ago and has recovered from that well. He had worms, but was treated for those as well and is beginning to gain some weight. He gets along outstandingly with all the dogs he has met. This includes the resident dogs (male, female) and two visitors. He seems to like all people as well. He appears to be somewhat of a submissive dog as he will let other dogs "boss him around" - AKA: mount him! He also has had an accident one time when my brother came home. We are working on the house training, which is 95% there. I have found that he has to be let outside to use the bathroom a little more frequently than my other dogs. He does seem to have a bit of a bladder control issue, especially when the tank is full. Ruben loves to go for car rides and walks. He has some leash manners, but still needs some work as he does pull and is quite strong. Ruben needs to be monitored when gates are being opened because he does try to escape. Overall, Ruben is a great dog...he loves to be around you and is VERY affectionate.

July 24, 2009 - Reuben continues to do very well in his foster home, patiently awaiting his big day when his family finds him! He is definately the party starter at this house. He pulls out all the toys in the toy bin, discovering toys that the others have long forgotten about. He loves to run and play in the backyard...thanks to him my resident lab mix female has shed some needed pounds and has become a quicker runner (with more endurance too!) He is good in the house, I just have to monitor his water intake. He doesn't love his crate, but I think that otherwise he might be a little naughty in the house while I'm away. I'm not sure, just a guess. He loves the other dogs and all people that he has met. He does seem to have a little small prey drive as he gets worked up occasionally on encountered squirrels during neighborhood walks. Reuben is very gentle but seems to be lacking spatial awareness. He has (oops!!) peed on nearby dogs in the yard and does step on them haphazardly on dog beds. He would love a patient play mate to teach him some more social graces. He is a joy and a pure lovey boy who will make a special addition to a lucky family!!

August 2, 2009 - Hey, it's me Rueben! Fostermom went on something called a vacation and I went on one too! I'm back to Linda's house and she's letting me write my own update. I am bunking here with the 3 resident boxers, Bacci, the small very sheek Italian beauty, (she's a bit yappy though)and Jody, Linda's foster. Anyway, yesterday, the almost 2yr old skin kid came over for a swim and I found that I really like human kids. I was very gentle with her, I didn't chase her or even lick her face, which by the way, her face was right at licking level. Like I said before, I am very much in love with Bacci, she and I play and play and play. I like to run around the backyard real fast and she chases me, yapping and yapping all the way. I'm way too fast though, she can't even keep up, but I let her catch me and then we roll in the grass. I eat twice a day, love treats, get along with all humans and dogs and haven't had any accidents, so I guess that means I'm housetrained. Linda said that I'm one of those dogs that doesn't photograph well. She says I'm much more handsome than my pictures. She keeps grabbing the sides of my mouth and squishing them. She also says I've been in rescue way too long, won't someone please make me the happiest boxer in town by taking me home?
