March 9, 2008 Best Friends Boxer Rescue picked up Rosie today after her guardian angels in Ohio sprung her from the pound and drove her to meet us. Rosie is a petite flashy fawn. She rode well in the car, ate a hearty supper, (she needs to gain some more weight) met the resident dogs and is resting and snoring to boot! She will make her way to the vet sometime this week to get a check-up, a heartworm test, a fecal exam and an appointment to be spayed. More updates on this fine girl in the coming days as we all get to know each other!
March 13, 2008 - Tomorrow Rosie is making a visit to the doctor. She has had chronic diarrhea since arriving last Sunday. She is acting a bit under the weather. She will get heartworm tested, have a fecal exam to check for worms (which could be one reason for being underweight) and a blood test to check her estrogen levels, we found what we think is a spay scar and this test will save Rosie from undergoing anesthesia if she is already spayed. For now, she is on the bland diet, boiled hamburger and rice. Today is day 2 and she does appear to be feeling better, interacting a bit with the other dogs and she seems more alert and active. She continues to be friendly to all, dogs or humans. Today was grandma's day to babysit the lovely Avery, 7 months young and Rosie did fine with her. More to come after our vet visit!
