January 15 2012 - Well well well! We would like to welcome our newest visitor to our home, Luna! I picked up Luna just about a month ago from an older couple that weren't quite prepared for her, shall we say puppydom? This girl is full of energy night and day. She's on the go 24/7. Therefore, she will need someone who is home most of the day or a couple that work opposite shifts. She absolutely has too much energy to be crated most of a day. I have several grandchildren, the oldest only 4 and she is overwhelming to them. She jumps as high as they are tall and scares them. She is still a bit of a nibbler, doesn't actually bite, but nibbles. She would never purposely hurt anyone, she just is a bit to much for small ones to take. She is bunking here with the resident old girl boxer, and she tries to engage her in play, but my Sunkiss will have none of it. She is way behind in knowing what is acceptable to other dogs and what won't cut it. She is very smart, we have been walking almost daily with the nice weather and she is learning to walk by my side, not in front of me. We are trying our best to make sure she becomes a nice family pet. More to come!

UPdate February 3 2012 - Hey, it's me Luna! Why am I still here? I like it here, but I would so like a home and family of my own. Foster mom says I have made such great progress, we decided that for now, a harness is preferred to a collar when on walks. I still like to pull to get to where I'm going. I have discovered so many new things here. I like cottage cheese, I don't care so much for yogurt, I like broccoli and tangerine jelly bellies. I was very impressed with that white stuff that falls out of the sky, it is really cool to run through it and bite it. I love marrow bones filled with peanut butter, I love meeting and playing with other dogs but am learning that I have to be a better playmate or they don't like me. I made friends with a black lab named Hank, he loves to play as much as me. I go to the door and whine to let you know I have to go out but I still have an occassional accident. I don't think one or two a week is too bad! I have also discovered sticks. They're so much fun to carry around and then chew into a hundred pieces. I am crated when there is no one home, and thankfully, that is not alot of time cause foster mom works right here. I love when foster mom's grandchildren come, they are alot of fun, but I like to chase them and I can jump real high. If you have some kids that won't be afraid of me and maybe another dog, that would be great! Please make my dreams come true, won't you consider filling out that application? See ya soon! xoxoxoxo

March 31 2012 - This update is straight up from my foster mom's mouth. Ok, I think I have done Luna a great disservice! Reading the two updates prior to today, I have made her sound like the dog straight from the land of trouble and that's not what I want to impart. Luna has been here 3 months, way longer than I would have liked. Everyday that she's here, she gets a little bit more settled in and I get more attached. If I were younger, I would keep her myself. I love her that much. She represents the Boxer breed in every sense of the word. She is smart, funny, confident, playful and strives to please. Because a dog should be a lifetime committment, she can't stay here, in 10yrs, I may be in a retirement home! Anyway, Luna has come so far since the first day she moved in here, she is social with all other dogs, wants to play, run, wrestle, do anything she can get them to do. She loves every human she meets, greeting one and all with enthusiasm and kisses. She still may be a bit too much for toddlers and small children, but if they have dog experience, they may be ok. I have 7 grandbabies, the oldest is only 4 and they are here alot. She likes to join in anything they are doing and if that includes running, well she's in. None of my babies have a dog of their own so when she licks and jumps, they get scared. She would never hurt them on purpose. She whines at the door to go outside, which, by the way, she loves being outside. She spends hours outside enjoying the sun and sticks. Did I mention she likes to carry sticks around and then munch them into small pieces, nice mulch if you ask me! If you don't get to the door in a timely manner, she will have an accident. So, as far as housetraining, I would say she's 95% good and 5% my fault cause I didn't hear her. I crate her at night still, I tried leaving her out, but she woke up sometime during the night or early morning and had an accident so back to the crate from about midnight till 7am. She doesn't mind at all, some nights, she's already in the crate and I just have to shut the door. I work from home so she has full reign of the house all day. Walking her has also become so much better. We didn't go with a harness after all and she's really turned the corner on being a good girl while out. No punches pulled here, if you are ready for a pup that is 100% energy, then Luna's your dog. She is just waiting for that right person too!
