jinx

July 18, 2009 - Jinx came in last night. He had a lot of energy after his long ride to Erie, PA and so far has been a joy to have here. I'm guessing he's about 18 months old, still very puppyish and just starting to fill out. He gets along wonderfully with my resident boxers (9 month old male and 3 yr old female) and my 3 children (ages 13, 10 and 6). He's a very happy pup with a go with the flow type of attitude, so I think he'd be happy with any type of family. Jinx doesn't seem to be trained much so this week we'll be working on sit and down along with walking on a leash. He marked in the house once, but hasn't had any other accidents. Jinx will be getting neutered on Wednesday and ready for his new family after that. Could you be the family he's looking for?

July 24, 2009 - Jinx was neutered and heartworm tested on Wednesday. He's heartworm negative and now on preventative. He is such a cuddle bug and just a all around great dog to have here. He does have mild separation anxiety issues. He's crated while we're gone and he chews the front of the crate. He hasn't counter nor table surfed, so he may be okay left loose. I can't really try this as my boxer has severe separation anxiety and needs to be left loose when we're gone. Jinx continues to just go with the flow in our house. He plays when the kids or dogs want to play and relaxes when we do. I took him out front on lead and the neighborhood ferral cats passed by. Jinx saw them and watched curiously, but never once pulled on the leash or tried to follow/chase them. Jinx is a great, young boy just waiting for his new forever family. Could yours be the one?

August 2 2009 - Jinx is doing wonderful here. I haven't worked with him too much on obedience because he was only here 4 days before being neutered and then recovery from that. Next week I'll be working hard on sit and down. Jinx "gets it", he just doesn't think he needs to listen every time he's told to do it. He's pretty good on a leash. I can walk him with one of my dogs without any problems. Jinx's separation anxiety seems to be getting slightly worse, so I think either a home with people home often or one where he can roam inside while they're gone would be best for him. He's very rarely crated more than an hour every few days here and we have been coming home to huge drool puddles outside of his crate. Jinx is so easy going, I take him along with my 2 dogs to football practice for 2 hours every other night and everyone there loves him. He's wonderful with children and dogs alike. Being that he is young, we believe that the crating is something he can work up to.

October 2 2009 - Jinx goes to the school with us (my male boxer and I) daily to pick up the kids. He's met a lot of small dogs and though curious about them he does well. Literally thousands of kids (grades K-8) walk by in very large groups and Jinx sits politely as he gets attention from many of them. Everyone he meets just loves him. He's been here 2 months and I've never heard or seen anything moody from him, not so much as a growl. He has a wonderful temperment. We are working on his crate issue (drooling) and are hopeful that with consistency he will overcome this.
