"The morality of a nation can be judged by the way a society treats their animals" ~ Mahatma Ghandi
Best Friends Boxer Rescue was incorporated in the state of New York in November, 2007 and has received notification from the IRS for Recognition of Exemption under Section 501(c)(3). This means that any donation made to our rescue is considered tax exempt. Not every rescue has this distinction, it is a privelege afforded by our country and the process to acquire this status is lengthy and scrutinized thoroughly before receiving this stature. Our mission is
to provide a safe, temporary refuge for unwanted or abandoned Boxers in New York, Pennsylvania and Northeast
Ohio. We address our dogs' basic needs and reduce the number of unwanted dogs entering the animal welfare
system (shelters, animal control, humane societies) by spaying and neutering every animal in our care and
emphasizing to the public the importance of spaying and neutering all companion animals. We actively seek
permanent, caring, approved homes for all of our dogs.
Prior to founding Best Friends Boxer Rescue our director spent 8 years volunteering with a nationally
recognized Boxer rescue in the northeast. After leaving in September 2007, she decided to start her own boxer
rescue in New York. Her BFBR duties are quite diverse.
Our volunteers are just that...volunteers. No one, including the director, receives any monetary
compensation for duties performed.
Donations and adoption proceeds go strictly toward the care of our dogs. Our rescue is run by
volunteers only. We rely solely on donations to remain operable since we do not receive government funding.
