January 30, 2009-Boxer'In on the lake would like to welcome our newest guest, Miss Ferrah. She arrived after a very long transport from North Carolina. Ferrah had an angel pull her from the shelter and get her to her pick up spot many miles away on a transport that was heading north. Ferrah would like to thank her for her hospitality and friendship. She will always remember your kindness. Ferrah is a beautiful flashy fawn with lots of white on her neck, chest and feet. She has cropped ears (very tight cropped ears) and a docked tail. She even has lots of fawn freckles around her white collar. She is just downright cute and so well behaved. Ferrah was turned into a shelter after her previous home owners lost their home and food for the dogs was very slim picking. She is doing well at her foster home now that she has no more worries about getting food to survive. She is really in good shape and I cannot even tell you how sweet she is. She gets along great with the other boxers here. Ferrah needs to be brought up to date on her vaccinations, heartworm tested and have a few lumps checked out. We will also check to see if she was spayed. She will be going to the vet later today and I will keep everyone informed with an update after our visit. So far, all I can tell you is that she is so deserving of her second chance. Check back to see how she is doing.

January 31, 2009-Ferrah is doing really well at her foster home. She went to the vets yesterday and was brought up to date on her vaccinations and the best news is that she is heartworm negative. It is always a worry taking in a dog from the south. The vet also found a spay scar so it looks like she will be ready for her forever home soon. She weighs 58 pounds and was good at the vets but was worried about what was happening to her. Our vet took her time and tried to make her feel a little more confident. She went with her foster brother Max who assured her that everything was going to be okay. She was glad when it was finally Max's turn. She is eating twice a day now and I believe is getting filled up as she has slowed down while she is eating. She is just a great girl. She is learning so much at her foster home. She is a very happy girl and loves to play with her foster parents. When she gets out in the snow, she gets a wild streak and will run so fast around the fenced yard. She has learned already that someone is always going out around her and she will usually follow but also will cry when she has to go out. No accidents in the house. Smart girl. She knows a few basic commands and will do anything to get a treat. Tonight after supper, we were all still in the kitchen and she got up and showed some interest in a little green squeaky elephant. She had the best time with it. She also loves to play fetch and brings it back to you. Yes, you read that right, she brings it back to you! She loves when you talk to her. She will turn her head to try and understand what you are telling her. I think she is just great. I think that she would be a great addition to any family. She is so sweet and is loving life right now. If you are looking for your new best friend, think about adopting her.
